Frank Schatz, 69 died at his home on Friday, November 23, 2012.
Frank Schatz was born in Glidden, Wisconsin on January 4, 1943 to Henry Schatz and Francis Hall Schatz. In the 1940’s the family moved to Seneca, as did many families, to work for Edward Hines Lumber Company.
Frank attended grade school in Seneca and high school at Grant Union High School in John Day. In 1960 he enlisted in the Army, and spent 2 years in Germany. Upon returning home he went to work for Edward Hines. He married Dorothy Kaneaster and they made their home in Seneca before moving to rural Burns. Frank continued to work in logging for Edward Hines, Harney County Gypsum and L.T. & L.
In 1985 Frank moved into Burns where he started his own business which he ran for several years before selling out and retiring.
Frank and his beloved dog Charlie could be found either at home, up at the casino or out at the truck stop having coffee with others and all trying to solve the worlds problems.
Frank loved the outdoors, fishing, camping and riding four wheelers with is friends. Frank was a hard worker and always a good provider. He was a great dad and a good friend to many. He will truly be missed by all.
Frank is survived by his son, Rich Schatz and wife Doris and his daughter Honey Schatz. Brother, Keith Schatz and wife Margaret. Sister, Rhea Rider and husband Don. Grand-daughters, Karmen and Richelle Schatz, Charla Lowry, Ashley Bailey and grandson J.J. Bailey as well as 6 great-grandchildren, many cousins, nieces and nephews and friends.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Francis, Brother Dale, sisters Diane and Dorna and Grand-daughter Savannah Bailey.
Graveside services where held on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at the Burns Cemetery.
