She was born in Portland to Orme & Blanche Dowling on Jan 2, 1922. She attended Girls Poly Tech HS in Portland.
Out of HS she worked for Meier & Frank, where she meet Frank. Frank was drafted into the Army in 1941. They corresponded for 4 years. Frank was discharged from the Army in Dec 1945. He proposed on Valentines of 1946 and they were married on June 1st of the same year.
Daddy brought her into Burns in the dark of night. He always said "that way she can't find her way home."
Virginia was a longstanding member of the Pioneer Presbyterian Church, where she served in many roles. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Harney County Horsewomen. She was a room mother for all of us while we grew up.
Mom had a love of horses, we had several over the years. Virginia's hobbies included sewing, painting, quilting, fishing and gardening.
Virginia is survived by her three children, John, Rick and Suzy, grandchildren Stephanie, Nicholas and Kristen and 7 great grandchildren.
At her request, there will be no service.
