Sharon Ann (Watkins) Wagner

November 4, 1961 ~ May 25, 2023 (age 61) 61 Years Old

Sharon Wagner passed away on May 25, 2023 from pancreatic cancer. Sharon was born on Nov. 4, 1961 in San Francisco, Calif., to Richard and Marlene Watkins. She joined two sisters Catherine (Petersen) and Susan (Hughes).

The Watkins family moved to Burns in 1964 where her dad started a job at the local radio station KRNS. Sharon lived in Burns for the rest of her life and loved her community here. She graduated from BUHS in 1979 and remained dear lifelong friends with many of her classmates.

Sharon married Steve Wagner in 1979 and they were blessed with four beautiful children who were the pride and joy of her life. Amanda (Bunger), Jim Wagner, Jen (Shepherd), and Emma (Powning) gave her purpose, love, and happiness every day. When her children started school, she followed them by going to work for the Harney County School District No. 3. Sharon worked at the school for over 30 years. She worked with special needs students and the colleagues she worked with all held a special place in her heart. She loved them all very much and they made her so very happy. They made her smile and laugh every day. For the last years of her career, she worked as the office manager at Slater Elementary School. She took great pride in her job there and loved the students and staff she worked with. It was one of her greatest regrets to leave so abruptly due to her illness.

Sharon is survived by her father, Richard Watkins; children and grandchildren: Amanda, Brent and Ava Bunger; Jim, Miranda, Morgan, Colbie, and Kelden Wagner; Jen, Liam and Penelope Shepherd; Emma, Isaac, Ace and Boomer Powning; sisters: Catherine Petersen and Susan and Edgar Hughes; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

Sharon was proceeded in death by her husband, Steven Wagner; her mother, Marlene Watkins; son-in-law, Joshua Shepherd; nephew, Trevor Peterson; and grandparents, Robert and Rebecca Munz and Percy and Bernice Watkins.

At Sharon’s request, there will be no public service and she would like loved ones to remember her by taking a day to do something you love with your loved ones, family and friends.
