Monica McCanna Obituary

On Sunday May 29th, 2022 the world grew a little dimmer with the passing of Monica McCanna at the age of 57. She passed peacefully in her sleep from heart complications. She was a loving wife, mother, grandma, sister, friend and mentor to many. Monica was born on December 16,1964 in Reno Nevada to Lynn Hahn. She was later adopted by Sharon McClain and Bruce Maynard. January 19,1983 Monica married the love of her life Ben McCanna. Soon after they started their family having three girls Jenifer, Jessica and Kaitlin. It is not possible to list all the men and women Monica and Ben adopted into their hearts as family. Monica's love for people and children especially,  knew no bounds. She was one of the lucky ones finding not only a career but a calling when she started work at Harney County School District. She began as a custodian and became a Para Professional. Monica made an impact on thousands of lives helping students to achieve their goals and graduate from high school. There are not enough words to describe this beacon of light but she was passionate about traveling,  cultures,  her union and showering people with love and affection. She touched people's hearts from all around the globe with her time working with the 4H exchange program. She hosted many kids that became part of her family. Monica was known for her kindness and grace, being described by many as an angel on earth. Monica was preceded in death by her mother Lynn Hahn and her brother Shane. She is survived by her husband Ben McCanna, her children Jenifer McCanna, Jessica Rodgers, Kaitlin Klawitter, Kenny Rodgers, Brandon Klawitter and her grandchildren Tyler Rodgers, Tirzah Douglas, Kairi Rodgers, William Douglas IV, Ben McCanna, Emma Rodgers, Anikin McCanna, Richard VanRy and Joshua McCanna. As well as her parents Don and Sharon McClain, Bruce Maynard, and Michael Hahn, her brothers Ron Maynard,  Tom McClain, Phillip Lizee and Raymond Hahn. Those that survive her will honor her legacy and continue her love for life and the people in it. Due to her sudden passing please consider donating to help cover the cost of expenses in place of flowers. Donations can be made to Ben McCanna at US Bank if anyone chooses to help and will be greatly appreciated.
