Donald Dixon Obituary

Donald Eugene Dixon was born on May 1, 1936 in Burns, Oregon to Delbert James Dixon and Esther Effie
Dixon (née Reel) and passed away on September 26, 2023. He spent much of his childhood in Burns,
attending local schools, and returned after retiring from a career in the Army.
He served at a number of military installations throughout the United States, but also in Germany,
Panama, Korea, and Vietnam. While in Vietnam, he received the Bronze Star and other commendations
of bravery for the rescue missions he volunteered for in service of his fellow comrades. He was a brave
soldier, a hero in our eyes, though he would not have thought so of himself. A kind and humble soul, he
was patient with young children and animals. A beloved husband, father and friend, he will never be
forgotten.
Don is survived by his wife Jeanine and her son Jeremy Moore, his children James Dixon (Christine) of
Texas and Kathryn Dixon Polmanter (Robert) of Michigan, three grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren
and his dear friends, Mike and Amy Roads of Burns, Oregon whom we cannot thank enough for their
support.
He will be laid to rest amongst relatives in Burns Cemetery in a private burial and family gathering. If
friends so wish, donations may be made in his memory to the Veterans Hospice Program. At the Boise
VA Hospice, Dad received extraordinary comfort, support and the respect due to one who served his
country so honorably.
