Obituary

Wesley Baisley, 88, of Baker City, Oregon passed away on December 4, 2017. On February 24, 1929, Wesley Baisley was born to Floyd Haven Baisley and Lola Dorthea (Petersen) Baisley in Baker, Oregon.  Wes was raised by Shelby and Birdena Petersen of Burns, Oregon. He attended Burns Grade School and graduated from Burns Union High School in 1948.  Wes was a proud father of one daughter Lola and four sons, Donald, Daniel, Terry, and David. After high school, Wes worked for Sam & Jake's Repair. He was commissioned by the Hines City Administrators to build the two-sided slide that exists today in the Hines City Park. He also, had the Harley-Davidson dealership in Burns in the early 60's. Wes moved to Portland in the mid 60's and worked in his brother-in-law's plumbing business. In 1973, Wes and his son Dan founded Baisley Hi-Performance in Portland, Oregon and together they owned and operated the business for 40 years before Wes retired on December 31, 2013. When he wasn't busy working and raising his children he enjoyed model airplanes, learning about anything mechanical, racing motorcycles, building Harley-Davidson engines and boxing.  Wes loved animals and he loved helping people.  He was recently baptized as a Catholic at St. Francis de Sales in Baker City and he was proud to be affiliated with the church. He leaves behind his daughter Lola Sevey of Baker City, Oregon; his four sons, Donald Westfall of Hermiston, Oregon, Daniel Baisley of Happy Valley, Oregon, Terrel Baisley of Redmond, Oregon, and David Baisley of Hermiston, Oregon.  He is also survived by nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Wesley is preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Lola Baisley, his sister Ida LaDu, and his great-grandson Jonathan Anderson. Friends are invited to join the family for a grave side service at the Burns Cemetery Saturday May 19th at 11:00 am. Memorial contributions may be made to Boys Town through LaFollette's Chapel  332 W. Monroe St, Burns, OR 97720.
