Theresa was born in Tacoma, Washington on October 1st 1928 to Henry Merkle and Lillian "Anslow Merkle. Theresa met and later married Jim Ward. In 1957 Jim and Theresa and their four children moved to Burns Oregon and started the county's first radio station; KRNS. They were fortunate enough to raise their children in Burns. Throughout their married life they traveled extensively. Theresa is survived by one brother Bernard Merkle and one sister Virginia Webb, all four children Diane Smith of Hines, Gary ward of Pendleton, Pat Ward of Hermiston and Cindy Grasty of Hines. She was Blessed with 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild, who lovingly referred to her as "Grandma The Great". Mom, Theresa, will always remain great in our hearts. The Rosary will be said on March 4th at 9:30 followed by the memorial services at 10:00 at the Holy Family Catholic Church. In-lieu of flowers please make donations to the Harney County Senior Center.
