Obituary

Robert "Bubba" Wright went on his final to heaven on November 7, 2011 at Harney District Hospital, Burns, Oregon.  After a 31/2 year battle with ALS, he left the pattern in the company of his wife and many friends. He was born on January 24, 1959 to Marvin and Florence Wright in Orange, California.  At around age 2 the family moved to Oregon where they moved around while Marvin was a timber faller.  They settled in Prospect in around 1969.  Robert went to Prospect Elementary school and then to Prospect High School.  Where he played and excelled in football and baseball.  He played basketball only to stay in shape between sports. After high school he worked seasonal for the Forest Service fighting fire for 2 years.  In the winter of 1979 he went to work for the Oregon Department of Transportation in Prospect plowing snow.  He transferred to Roseburg extra gang in about 1985.  In 1990 was promoted Section Foreman Boswell Springs in Drain, Oregon and then to Transportation Maintenance Manager in Burns October 1994 thru March 2004.  Where he ended his 23 year career with ODOT.  He then went to work for Harney County Road Department as Office manager from 2004-2008. Robert met Brenda Artmire in high school.  He worked for her grandpa and father at their family gas station in Prospect.  Brenda and Robert were married in December 1985.  In October of 1989 they had there first child Krissandra; and Raymond followed in January of 1993.  They made their home in Sutherlin from 1989 to 1995.  They then moved to Burns.  Burns has been their home for the past 17 years. In 1989 Robert found is second love, flying.  He obtained his private pilots license in July of 1989.  He obtained his Instrument and commercial endorsements.  He flew anytime he could get a chance.  He bought the first of his airplanes upon moving to Burns, since we had family in Prospect. Robert was involved with the Burns Lions Club, Pioneer Presbyterian Church, NRA as an endowment member.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, auto restoration, motorcycle riding, and woodworking. He is survived by is Mother, Florence Wright; wife, Brenda of 25 years; children Krissandra and Raymond Wright; Aunt, Nadine Haukos and her husband, Al; Uncle Walter Ridge and his wife, Jenny; many cousins and Brenda's parents and sister. He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Wright. A Celebration of Life Service will be held November 19, 2011 at Harney County Fair Grounds Memorial Building at 2:00 p.m.  Contributions in Bubba Wrights' memory can be made to the ALS Association or Pioneer Presbyterian Church in care of LaFollette's Chapel, PO Box 488; Burns, Oregon 97720.  LaFollette's Chapel is in charge of funeral
