Graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. (Pacific Time) at the Spurlock Ranch.(56100 Crane-Venator Lane, Crane, Oregon) Perry Harrison Ott, 89 of Crane, Oregon died May 12, 2013.  He was our patriarch, a husband, a father, a grandfather, a great grandfather, a brother and friend of many. Perry was born November 8th 1923 and epitomized Tom Brokaw's definition of "The Greatest Generation". Growing up as a young child during the Great Depression, leaving school in the 8th grade to work, serving in the Army during WWII (earning an American Theatre Service Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge, Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Rifle Expert medal) then saving his pennies driving log trucks for years so he could finally create a family legacy by purchasing the Spurlock Ranch at the tender age of 50.  After being honorably discharged from the Army he met and shortly after married Gladys Payne on Feb. 16th 1947, they raised 4 amazing children who have also grown up to be wonderful parents and grandparents. Perry was preceded in death by his son Dale Ott of Days Creek and is survived by his wife Gladys, 2 sons Dr. Gail Ott of Lake Oswego, Terry Ott of Crane, his daughter Susan Joyce of Ontario, 2 brothers Don Ott of Eugene, John Ott of Days Creek, 2 sisters Dorothy Thompson of Vale, Lela Troyer of Oakridge, 10 Grandchildren Dr. Shane Ott, Teresa Estes, Jake Ott, Dr. Tobias Joyce, Catilin Ott, Jason Ott, Ryan Joyce, Jennifer Bertrand, Kyle Joyce, Tyrel Ott and 13 great grandchildren. He will be remembered for being a "Gentleman's Cowboy", having a quirky sense of humor, befriending every stray dog that passed by and having amazing war stories that were told over and over again. We all love you and appreciate you as a human being. Dale, I guess you finally have a hunting partner. Contriubtions in Perry Ott's memory can be made to the Dollars for Scholars - Dale Thomas Ott Scholarship Fund and mailed to Susanna Dagler, PO Box 10, Days Creek, Oregon 97429.
