Joshua James Shepherd, 33, of Burns, Oregon died in a tragic car accident on May 18, 2014, on Highway 20 just east of the Santiam Summit in Jefferson County. Joshua was born on November 29, 1980, in Burns, Oregon to Jim and Elia Shepherd. He was raised in Riley, Oregon on the South Silver Creek Ranch where he attended Suntex Elementary, a one-room school house. He remained at this school through the sixth-grade with his beloved sister Janine and other children from the ranching community. Josh and his family later moved to Burns, Oregon where he attended Burns High School and met his high school sweetheart, Jennifer Wagner. In 1998, he graduated from Burns High School and went on to Oregon State University where he received a degree in Agricultural Resource Economics. Josh was proud to graduate as a fourth generation OSU grad in 2003/2004. On August 25, 2008, he married the love of his life, Jennifer, and the couple resided in Mt. Angel, Oregon. On February 3, 2010, they welcomed their wonderful son, Liam James, and not long after, on September 17, 2012, they were blessed with their beautiful daughter, Penelope Paige. As a family, they enjoyed spending time together outside playing, gardening and being part of their close knit neighborhood. Josh worked for Kraemer Nursery Inc. in Silverton, where he loved the challenges of developing systems of supply chain management. His success and achievements at work were a source of fulfillment and pride for Josh and his family. Josh will forever be remembered as a fun-loving, witty and hard-working son, father, husband and brother.  Josh and Jen cherished their children, family, friends and the communities of Harney County and Mt. Angel/Silverton. Joshua is survived by his wife, Jennifer and their children, Liam (4) and Penelope (1); his parent's Jim and Elia Shepherd of Burns, OR, sister, Janine Simms of Phoenix, AZ. A service for Josh will be held at Faith Baptist Church in Hines on May 31, 2014 at 11:00 am with a luncheon to follow. LaFollette's Chapel is in charge of funeral arrangements and a Memorial Services will be held in Silverton, OR at a date to be determined.
