James "Richard" Temple passed away peacefully in his sleep March 23 after a long illness. Richard was born Nov. 12, 1929, to Jap and Ruby Temple. He met the love of his life, Glenda Stephenson, in 1965. Richard and Glenda knew they wanted to spend the rest of their lived together, so after a short courtship, they married on Sept. 25. 1965. Soon after, they had two beautifel children who he lovd deeply. Richard was a lifelong Harney County resident and rancher. He enjoyed working on the ranch, hunting, fishing, and traveling with his wife, Glenda. One of his greatest enjoyments was watching his grandchildren and their sports activities, and just being with family. Richard is survived by his wife of 50 years, Glenda Temple; daughters, Mary Jo Shoemaker, and Jennie Lee and her husband, Chris Lee; brothers, John Temple, and Ora Temple and his wife; grandchildren, Chett and Terri Smith, Taylor and Megan Lee, Joseph and Delanie Temple; two great-grandchildren, Jhett and Paisley Smith; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 31, at Burns Elks Lodge No. 1680. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Shriners Club.
