Frank Duhn Sr. went to be with the Lord, Jan. 15, 2013. He passed away peacefully at his son's home in Burns, Ore of natural causes. He was 92 years old. Frank will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was born Nov. 14, 1920 to Henry and Betty Duhn in Emmetsburg, Iowa. Frank was one of seven children. He grew to manhood in Emmetsburg where he graduated high school in 1939. He was drafted in January 1945 and served 17 months in the armed services. He was stationed in Hawaii. He married Doris Burseth, June 6, 1948. They later divorced. Frank farmed his grandfather's homestead until he bought his own 80 acres. He married Helen Johnson Duhn Dec. 4, 1967. They divorced in 2003. They had one son Frank Jr. and one daughter Laurie who they adopted in 1973. Frank and Helen moved to Oregon and settled in Prineville, Ore. They raised their kids and were active in the community. Frank worked as a mill wright at Coin Mill Works, also working part time as a rural mail carrier and delivering appliances for Sears. He attended The Community Church in Prineville and Powell Butte Christian Church where he was active as a leader and teacher. He retired in 1983. He was always fixing something. He enjoyed old antiques, rock hounding, camping and sea shells. He loved sharing his collection with people. In 2011 he moved with his son and family to Burns where he lived until his death. When asked how he was Frank would always reply "pretty good for the shape I am in". He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers. He is survived by son Frank Jr. and wife Dena, granddaughters Elizabeth, Rachel, and Shelby; daughter Laurie Duhn and Greg Morris; one brother Marvin Duhn; two sisters, Vivian Jorgensen and Betty Jorgensen.
