Obituary

Ella Maxine Taylor, longtime Burns resident, passed away Saturday, January 5, 2013  She had been in ill health for several years. She was born October 11, 1924 in Roswell, Idaho.  She was the third child of Charles F. and Elsie Graber Schutlz.  She spent most of her childhood in the Wilder, Idaho area. She met Lloyd Taylor when he was home on leave from the Merchant Marines.  In 1944 she took the train to Louisiana where Lloyd was stationed.  She and Lloyd were married on June 15 in the town of Gretna.  After the war, they returned to Idaho.  They moved to Burns in 1949. Ella worked as a cook at the hospital for several years.  She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother.  She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and doing jigsaw puzzles.  Her home was her pride and she was a wonderful cook.  No one could make fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy like she did. She is survived by her three sons and their wives; Charles and Lois, Paul and Vicki, and Wesley and Diana; nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; sister, Wyona Keith, and sister's-in-law Darlene and Shirley Upton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd, parents Charlie & Elsie, brother Frank and sister, Josephine. Contributions in Ella's memory can be made to the Harney County Senior Center in care of LaFollette's Chapel, PO Box 488; Burns, Oregon 97720.
