Doris A Snell, 96, passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at Friendsview Manor in Newberg,Oregon. Doris was born March 29, 1922 in Leoti, Kansas to Pliny B and Mabel Stiles. She attended country schools in her elementary years and graduated from Wichita Co High School in 1940. Shortly thereafter she traveled to Harney County where she had a sister and brother-in-law living She found work at various businesses in Burns and in 1942 she was hired by Edward Hines Lumber Co. to work in their accounting department. She remained there for 20 years, retiring in 1962 due to health problems. She met her love and best friend, Robert Snell and they were married in September 1961. He preceded her in death in 1985. Doris was a member of the Harney County Church of the Nazarene during her residence in Burns. She moved to Friendsview Manor in 1993 and has resided there until her death. Surviving are the following siblings: Eunice Bundy, Shirley Jacobson, and brother Vern Stiles and his wife Dorothy. She preceded in death by her husband, sister Juanita Smith, Melba Hobson, Mae Finch and brother Preston Stiles. Grave Side services were held at the Burns Cemetery on November 27, at 12:00 P.M. Remembrances may be made to a charity of ones choice. LaFollette's Chapel was in charge of funeral arrangements.
