Portland resident Doris Kay Horton passed into the presence of Jesus on October 15, 2013.  She lived 64 years, 10 months and 21 days.  A service at LaFollette's Chapel in Burns was held with internment in the Burns Cemetery on Saturday, October 19, 2013. Doris Kay was born on Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 1948 in Burns, Oregon.  She was the first child of Eddie J. Horton and Evelyn Overholser.  When Doris was four, her sister Betty was born and the family was complete. Doris Kay grew up in Hines and lived in Pendleton, Salem, Molalla and Portland with some stays in Vale and Boring. She traveled with her family to Missouri and California on many occasions to visit with relatives. Doris Kay was preceded in death by her father and mother. She is survived by her sister, Betty Horton Bates and husband, Stephen Bates;  niece, Stephenie Bates Gross and husband, Nathan Gross; nephew, Brandon Bates and wife Melinda Bates; two great nieces and one great nephew. Doris Kay was known for her smile.   That is her legacy.  Remember to smile in good times and bad!
