Obituary

Betty Jean Hilbert, 86 died on November 10, 2011 in Christmas Valley, Oregon due to a long illness. She was born in Marshfield, Oregon on January 5, 1925 to Burell & Evelyn Stemson.  She was raised on a ranch in the Ritter, Oregon area.  Betty graduated from High School in Long Creek, Oregon.  On May 30, 1945, she married Everett Hilbert in Mineral Wells, Texas, where Everett was station in the Army.  After Everett's discharge, they came back to the Ukiah, Oregon area to ranch. In 1956; they bought a ranch in the Diamond area.  Ranched until their retirement where they moved to Frenchglen, Oregon.  They worked for the Rock Creek Ranch.  Betty worked for the Frenchglen Hotel for 25 years. She was an avid knitter, making sweaters and afgans.  She spent the last year in Silver Lake, Oregon with her daughters. Betty is survived by her daughters and son-in-law.  Sharon & Chuck Messner of Adel, Oregon and Glorea Ash of Silver Lake, Oregon. Proceeded in death by husband Everett, parents Burell & Evelyn Stimson, sisters, Cleo Marlin, Mary Lippert and brother Jim Stimson. Inurnment will be held in the Spring at Olney Cemetery in Pendleton, Oregon.  LaFollette's Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
