Bill has given so much to help protect and preserve the environment of Harney County.  He has served on the Harney County Watershed Council for many years and was our chairman for the past three years.  He will truly be missed.

Bill was such a big part of our lives and of the community. No one will ever be able to take his place. He was one of a kind. His passing left a big empty hole in our hearts and he will be greatly missed.

Bill was/is a great man and set the example of what a true public servant should be. I consider myself lucky to have known him and to have worked with him on many events. If you tried to tell him how valuable he is or what a good man he was for all the things he did/has done for the community, he would shrug it off and show such humbleness. He had a great wit, quick mind, vast knowledge, and worked himself to the bone for everyone. The community will NEVER see the like of him again. Rest in peace Bill. Slainte!

The weight of Bill's passing has been crushing.  It seems so unfair that such a good, decent, gentle spirit should be taken so soon, I know he had so much more to give and do for all of the citizens of Harney County.

Bill made a comment to me about Burns, “I love this area, and it wasn't too tough to come back.  I will continue to be involved for as long as I can”.  His life definitely shows that he walked the talk.  He sees the positive, he is a library of information, historian, an amazing story teller, a faithful friend, an encourager and ready to help with any task.  I was fortunate to know him from High School days to the present.  Without his presence, coming to Burns will never be the same but I will always remember my lifetime friend.  My deepest sympathy to Bill’s loved ones.  We will all miss him.

Bill was such good friend. I would have lunch with him when he was in my area. I spoke to him on the phone, approximately every two to three months, to catch up things in Burns and what was going on in our lives. He spoke often of his love for Harney County. I will miss him, my deepest sympathy  to his loved ones.
