Karen M. Weir, 64 died on Sunday, November 17, 2019 at Harney District Hospital.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at 11:30 a.m. at LaFollette's Chapel with a Graveside service to follow in the Burns Cemetery.  A potluck luncheon will be held at the Harney County Senior Citizen Center, after the services.

Karen was born July 26, 1955, in Burns, to Robert and Larraine Tiller. She was the oldest of three children. She graduated from Burns Union High School in 1973. She worked at the Tiller’s Market while in high school, and she met Rick Weir while hanging dog collars in the pet aisle. It was love at first sight. They got married June 23, 1973. Two short years later, they had their first daughter, Karrie, and Katie joined them 10 years later in 1985.

Karen was a stay-at-home mom for the most part. When Katie was in junior high, Karen got a job working in the grade school kitchen. She was able to save her money to make repairs on the house, but also take trips to see her husband in California during spring break.

Karen enjoyed arts and crafts, including paint by numbers and crocheting. Rick would draw pictures on wood and she would paint them, and they are still hanging in their house today. She enjoyed the outdoors a lot.  Hunting, fishing, camping, and eventually four-wheeling. There was never a mud puddle that she didn’t go through several times whether in the pickup or on her four-wheeler. She was an avid reader of Stephen King, the scarier the better. She also enjoyed refinishing old furniture with her husband. She made all kinds of pillows, afghans, latchhook, and scrapbooking. She was the keeper of all sentimental items. She loved to give people a hard time in the grocery store or at the bank. It was her humor and sarcasm that would draw people to her and her smile would light up a room.

Karen is survived by her daughters, Karrie and Katie; grandsons, Maximus and Bobby Dascomb; mother, Larraine Tiller; brothers, Rocky Tiller and Randy Tiller; sister-in-law, Connie Tiller; and numerous nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rick Weir; and father, Robert Tiller.

Contributions in her memory can be made to the Shaela Rivers' Medical Fund at Selco Bank.

Our deepest condolences to Karen's family. We were next-door neighbors years ago at Strawn's Mobile Park. Karrie and Katie, words can't begin to say how sorry we are.
