We are so sorry to hear of Mary’s passing. She has been a friend for many years. She was very kind to me when I was teaching at Diamond many years ago, me being a “newbie”, she was helpful to me!
Condolences to my “students” Harry, Sherry and Fred And their families.

Donna and I know Mary through our work at Superior Livestock and we were both very sad to hear of Mary's passing. She was a wonderful, kind, sweet women and will be missed. I had the opportunity to film her for the American Rancher in 2007. My most memorable moment was when she was piloting here hay swather with me barely hanging on with one hand and trying to film her with a camera in the other. What an experience! As "The Voice" of Superior Livestock" I had the honor and sad duty of reading a short obit on Mary's passing just before our regular Superior Livestock Auction on January 24. This is what i said:

"Superior Livestock lost a long-time family member with the passing of Mary Otley of Diamond, Oregon. She was 96. A celebration of her life is today (January 24, 2019) at the Harney County Fairgrounds Memorial Building in Burns, Oregon at 11 AM Pacific. Mary was small in stature but cast a giant shadow across the livestock industry. Her family’s cattle operation received the honor of Commercial red Angus Breeder of the year for 2007 as well as multiple Grid Master Awards. Always a smile on her face…she loved her family…here ranch, Superior Livestock and her rep for 30 years…. Jim and Mary Sue Davis. Our heart felt thoughts and prayers go out to the Otley family in their time of grief. Let us have a moment of silence for our good friend and sister in Christ…. Mary Otley!"

So sad to hear of Mary's passing, she was a great lady, she is the voice I hear in my head telling me to always to "do your best". Blessings to the Otley family, my sincere and kindest prayers. Wish I could have been there to hear all the stories I am sure there were many shared.
