Kathy Summerlin Davis
September 12, 1951- April 7, 2016

“She was fierce, she was strong, she was simple. She always had something to say, and someone to say it to. She had flaws and that was okay. When she was down, she got back up. She was a fighter in her own way. One idea described her best: She was unstoppable and strived to be the best.”
-MaKenzie Davis

Kathy was born September 12, 1951 in Mt. Olive, North Carolina. Kathy died April 7, 2016 at age 64 (still claiming to be 36). She was preceded in death by her parents Effie and Harvey Summerlin, brothers Lynwood and Ronnie Summerlin, and Sister Linda Summerlin Carter. She is survived by six brothers and sisters; Harvey Summerlin, Jimmy Summerlin, Sally Barnett, Shelby Blizzard, Johnny Summerlin and Donnie Moore. Kathy is also survived by many special cousins, nephews and nieces.

Kathy was an amazing mother to three boys, two daughter-in-laws, and three granddaughters. Jed, Carolyn and MaKenzie Davis of Monmouth, OR. Travis, Teresa, Kyra and Sienna Davis of Hood River, OR. and Trevor Davis of Gladstone, OR.

Kathy worked for the Safeway of Burns for over 25 years, and was the deli manager for over 5    years. She took pride in her work, and continually went above and beyond expectations.

Kathy’s true loves were her brothers and sisters, her three boys, her three granddaughters, North Carolina Tar Heels, the beach, Alan Jackson, playing cards (solitaire & Rummy with her granddaughters) and helping those in need.

A celebration of life will be held on May 7th, 3:00 pm at the golf course. Kathy had a love for helping others. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting a donation to the charity of your choice be made in her name. The Davis family is so grateful for your love and support.

“Think of me and smile.”- Alan Jackson

Jed, Travis and Trevor...
So sorry to hear about your mom. She was such a great lady. Never missed a chance to stop and talk with her at Safeway. And i'll never forget eating grits for the first time after staying the night. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
